Religious Deconstruction & Trauma Support Group

A Year of Connection, Healing, and Growth

Leaving or questioning a faith tradition can be one of life’s most disorienting and painful experiences. It touches identity, relationships, values, and belonging. Whether you’re in the midst of deconstruction or integrating the lasting impact of religious trauma, you don’t have to walk this road alone.
This group offers a compassionate, trauma-informed community where you can share your story, learn foundational concepts about religious trauma and deconstruction, and connect with others who truly understand.

What to Expect

The group meets every other week for 20 sessions over a 10 month period. Each 90-minute meeting includes a short teaching or reflection on topics such as the stages of deconstruction, boundaries, grief, identity loss, and reclaiming spirituality, followed by open sharing and discussion.
The focus is connection, understanding, and rebuilding trust in yourself after religion. This is not a therapy group; it’s a space for shared humanity, emotional support, and meaning-making.
Meet Your Facilitators:
Hi, I’m Teresa Hobbs, founder of Monarch Integrative Coaching. My own journey began within Mormonism, where I spent my early years swallowed up by a faith tradition that reverberated though every part of life. When I stepped away at age 20, the process of deconstruction transformed my identity, relationships, and sense of belonging. Those early experiences gave me a deep appreciation for both the challenges and the possibilities that come with leaving a high-demand religion, and they guide the way I hold space in this group.

Alongside my personal journey, I am a Certified Trauma Recovery Coach™, Pain Reprocessing Therapy Practitioner, and Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) provider. My approach weaves together Mindbody Medicine, Polyvagal Theory, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, and somatic embodiment practices to support nervous system regulation, identity rebuilding, and healing from both chronic pain/illness and the wounds of high-demand religion.

Hi, I’m Bill Reel. I was a deeply committed member of a high demand religion for much of my adult life, serving in various leadership roles, before encountering a major crisis of faith and beginning my own faith deconstruction. That journey eventually led me to step away from organized religion and dedicate myself to supporting others through the often painful process of questioning and leaving high-demand religious systems.
I created a non-profit in 2014 and For the past decade, I've created online content meant to support those who have incurred religious trauma where I’ve facilitated open, honest, nuanced conversations about faith transitions, spirituality, and conscious living. My goal has always been to create safe spaces for people to explore hard questions, reclaim their personal integrity, and connect with others on similar paths.
In this group, I bring both my personal experience and my years of work in religious deconstruction communities to help foster honest, compassionate dialogue and mutual support.
I am a Certified Somatic Trauma-Informed Coach. That means I am training to help people who’ve been through difficult experiences learn how trauma shows up in the body and mind, and develop tools for regulation, resilience, and moving forward.

Each virtual group meeting provides a safe, non-judgmental space for sharing and listening. While I will occasionally offer tools for coping and healing, the focus is primarily on creating an environment where you can openly express yourself and connect with others on a similar journey. Every meeting is an opportunity to share, learn, and support each other. From time to time, I may also host special paid group sessions focused on specific healing modalities, but the original Circle of Connection Support Group is free of charge.
